This application is made for power system professionals who are involved in design, configuration, purchasing or operation of telecom power systems. It indicates potential savings that can be realized in two situations:

a) if replacing old rectifier equipment with Eltek’s latest high efficiency equipment in ordinary telecom power systems

b) if upgrading off/poor grid sites to optimal smart energy management solutions, with or without use of renewable energy

The application calculates energy savings, energy cost savings and CO2 emission savings; and it visualizes total opex savings over a 10 year period. It also provides the opportunity to send a summary of calculations to an e-mail address.

Replacing old rectifier equipment
The user is asked to input information about his current system:

• No. of sites
• Average load
• kWh cost
• Efficiency

The application calculates

• Energy savings (MWh/yr)
• Reduced electricity cost ($/yr)
• Reduced CO2 reduction (tons/yr)

Visualization:

• 10 year incremental opex development with old and replaced equipment

Upgrading off/poor grid sites to optimal smart energy management solutions

Situation A: optimization of hybrid installations that include power input from diesel generators and solar panels and use of Eltek’s HE solar charger.

The user is asked to input information about his current system:

• No. of sites
• Average load
• Diesel cost
• Solar energy contribution (%)

Situation B: optimization and cyclic operation of installations powered only by diesel generators

The user is asked to input information about his current system:

• No. of sites
• Average load
• Diesel cost

For both situations A and B, the application calculates:

• Reduced fuel consumption (l/yr)
• Reduced fuel cost ($/yr)
• Reduced maintenance cost ($/yr)

The application also visualizes incremental opex development over 10 years for current and optimized solutions.

The calculations rely on the following assumptions:

• Generator maintenance: service required for each 250 hrs operation – at cost usd 250.
• Battery lifetime: 3 years (avg. battery temperature 25oc)

Generator operation: continuous 24/7 operation, at 20% of rated capacity
average load input by user: 80% of peak load
